Kimlun Corp interested in MRT project

Soon-to-be-listed Kimlun Corp Bhd has expressed its interest to participate in the proposed mass rapid transit (MRT) system under the 10th Malaysia Plan, its top official said.

Chief executive officer and executive director Sim Tian Liang said the construction and engineering services provider outfit was looking to ride on the numerous projects under the new economic plan and was particularly keen on the massive 156km MRT project.

“Of course, we would like to bid for (relevant) parts of the project,” he told reporters after the company’s prospectus launch here yesterday, adding that the Malaysian market remained the major revenue contributor to Kimlun’s operations.


Kimlun eyes bigger projects

KIMLUN Corp Bhd, an engineering and construction service provider slated for listing on Bursa Malaysia’s Main Market on June 29, is expanding its factory facilities in the hope of getting bigger projects.

Executive chairman Pang Tin says the company aims to take on bigger projects once its existing factory in Johor Baru is expanded.

“We are also planning to build two new factories near our existing factory to produce our new range of construction related products. We are currently looking for suitable sites,” he tells StarBizWeek in an interview.

Pang says the company expects to raise about RM62mil from its initial public offering (IPO) exercise.

Bayaran balik minimum, permudah usahawan lunas pinjaman

KERAJAAN akan menghentikan pemberian geran kepada sektor Perusahaan Kecil dan Sederhana (PKS) dan menggantikannya dengan skim pembiayaan mudah dengan kadar pembiayaan yang minimum.

Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak, berkata langkah itu bagi membina sikap bertanggungjawab yang tinggi di kalangan pemilik syarikat sektor itu terhadap perniagaan masing-masing, pada masa sama membolehkan lebih banyak yang menikmati manfaatnya.
 
Beliau berkata, pinjaman mudah itu akan diselaraskan SME Corp Malaysia dan jumlahnya akan diumumkan dalam pembentangan Rancangan Malaysia Ke-10 (RMK-10) yang dijadualkan 10 Jun ini.


KPJ Healthcare buka tiga lagi hospital baharu

KPJ Healthcare Bhd akan melabur RM200 juta untuk pembukaan tiga hospital baharu di Klang, Selangor dan Pasir Gudang serta Muar, kedua-duanya di Johor menjelang pertengahan tahun depan.

Hospital yang bakal dibuka itu ialah Hospital Pakar Pasir Gudang, Hospital Pakar Muar dan Hospital Pakar Klang.

Pengerusinya, Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim berkata, pada peringkat permulaan, pihaknya akan menyediakan 400 katil di ketiga-tiga hospital berkenaan dan bilangannya akan ditambah mengikut permintaan semasa.

"Pembukaan hospital baru itu juga secara tidak langsung dapat meluaskan rangkaian hospital KPJ serta memberi lebih banyak peluang perniagaan kepada kumpulan.

KPJ Healthcare to build 3 more hospitals

KPJ Healthcare Bhd is investing RM200mil to build three new hospitals and RM100mil in new medical equipment and expanding its existing hospitals nationwide this year.

Chairman Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim said works on the Bandar Baru Klang Specialist Hospital, as well as Pasir Gudang Specialist Hospital and Muar Specialist Hospital – both in Johor have already started and are due for completion by the end of 2011.

He said apart from opening at least two new hospitals yearly, the company would also continue to invest in new equipment, refurbishments and upgrading its existing facilities when the needs arise.

“We want to ensure our hospitals and services remain at par with international standards,” Ali said in a press conference after the company AGM on Monday.


Jambatan Bengkok perlu dikaji, perhalusi semula

Cadangan agar projek pembinaan Jambatan Bengkok dikaji semula disambut dengan pelbagai reaksi oleh pakar-pakar ekonomi namun rata-ratanya menyokong ia diteruskan.

Penganalisis ekonomi, Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah berkata, rundingan antara kerajaan Malaysia dengan Singapura perlu diadakan bagi mengkaji semula projek jambatan tersebut sama ada dibina semula atau dimansuhkan terus.

Jelasnya, perundingan di antara kedua-kedua negara membolehkan situasi menang-menang dicapai dan akhirnya akan memanfaatkan semua pihak.

Dalam pada itu, beliau berkata, dari segi ekonomi, kewujudan projek itu amat baik kepada pembangunan Malaysia terutama untuk kemajuan selatan negara ini.

"Lantaran itu, projek itu perlu dilaksanakan bagi meningkatkan aktiviti perdagangan di Johor.


Shahrir: Ridiculous To Pretend KTM Land In Singapore Is Malaysian Territory

Datuk Seri Shahrir Samad, the MP for Johor Baru, said it was "hysterically ridiculous to pretend" that the KTM track, its station and other plots are Malaysian territory when they are actually land leased from Singapore purely for the purposes of the rail service run by KTM Bhd.

In endorsing the historic bilateral deal Malaysia inked with Singapore on Tuesday to jointly develop KTM's Tanjong Pagar rail station, the former Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister said the deal would create a situation favouring KTM and Malaysians as a whole.
