JOHOR BAHRU, Saturday, July 30th: In a bid to further ease traffic flow between Johor Baru city and Skudai, a second ramp of the Jalan Tun Abdul Razak Interchange is now open to public.
Traffic from Johor Baru City Centre taking Jalan Abu Bakar along Danga Bay can now take the new ramp towards Jalan Skudai from today onwards.
The ramp, which is 600 meters in length will help to ease the current congestion near Tune Hotels and travelers will be able to get from Danga Bay to Jalan Skudai in around 5 minutes.
Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) Chief Executive Ismail Ibrahim said the Tun Abdul Razak interchange was a part of the Coastal Highway Project which would be fully completed by early 2012.
“When fully completed, this interchange will provide connectivity between Johor Baru city centre to Skudai and Nusajaya.
“This will open a new growth corridor, particularly in Nusajaya and thus facilitate business and investors by cutting down travel time to these areas,” said Ismail.
Ismail added there may still be some minor works at the end of the ramp but that it would be cleared up within a week.
“On behalf of IRDA, I would like to thank the public from the bottom of my heart. You have truly shown your support for ISKANDAR MALAYSIA through your patience and understanding.
“We anticipate some congestion when travelers rush home during Ramadhan to break fast and with the opening of this ramp, we hope have more manageable traffic flow.
“IRDA is committed to complete these projects and to work with key partners and the Government to develop ISKANDAR MALAYSIA into a better living environment for the people,” said Ismail.
