ISKANDAR MALAYSIA, Saturday, OCT 29: Road users can now enjoy a faster and smoother journey travelling in ISKANDAR MALAYSIA, with the completion of an interchange and two new accesses.

The opening of the Bukit Indah and Taman Tema 1 interchanges gives direct access to Horizon Hills in Nusajaya from Johor Bahru city and vice versa, via the Coastal Highway.

Now it will take only 15 minutes to get from Horizon Hills in Nusajaya to Johor Bahru city centre, instead of 25 minutes previously if using Jalan Skudai via Taman Perling and the Second Link.

Another new access is the opening of the bridge at Jalan Abu Bakar-Jalan Lingkaran Dalam Interchange allows a direct access from Jalan Abu Bakar to the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) via Jalan Lingkaran Dalam.

With this access open to the public, it will only take around 5 minutes uninterrupted drive from Jalan Abu Bakar to CIQ, compared to about 15 minutes previously due to traffic lights.

Meanwhile, the completion of Persimpangan Indahpura in Kulai will open up access for travelers from Johor Bahru city to the soon-to-be-launched Johor Premium Outlets via Jalan Skudai-PLUS-Linkedua. Travel time is shortened to 20 minutes compared to 40 minutes if via the Jalan Skudai-Senai-Bandar Indahpura route.

However, this route will not be opened to the public until further notice as some final construction works are still on-going.

Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) Chief Executive Ismail Ibrahim, who launched the interchange and accesses today thanked the public for their continuous support towards ISKANDAR MALAYSIA and its projects.

“On behalf of IRDA, I would like to thank the public from the bottom of my heart. You have truly shown your support for ISKANDAR MALAYSIA through your patience and understanding.

“We anticipate some congestion when travelers holidaying during school holidays and the Hari Raya Haji break and with the opening of this interchange and links, we hope have more manageable traffic flow.

“IRDA is committed to complete these projects and to work with key partners and the Government to develop ISKANDAR MALAYSIA into a better living environment for the people,” said Ismail.

Ahmad Abdul Raman, a 60-year-old retiree said with the presence of the new infrastructure, Johor Bahru’s skyline had changed and ISKANDAR MALAYSIA was well on its way to be an international standing metropolis.
