SK Sungai Danga comes under Iskandar Investment Bhd’s ‘care’ in a bid to boost its students’ academic performance ISKANDAR Investment Bhd has chosen SK Sungai Danga here as the first school under its school adoption programme.
Education@Iskandar Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Khairil Anwar Ahmad said the school's adoption programme was IIB's initiative to enhance the academic performance of the rural schools' 206 pupils.
Prior to the adoption, he said IIB had already carried out various programmes in the school. They include providing essentials and materials under its Back To School programme.
"We bought uniforms, shoes, bags and stationery for the pupils.
"IIB also helped improve the school library by providing furniture."
"We also instilled environmental awareness among the pupils through programmes such as "Love Your Mangrove," he said.
Khairil was speaking to reporters at the launch of the adoption programme recently. Also present was Johor Education director Mohd Nor A. Ghani. Khairil said more programmes would be implemented for the school such as literacy and mathematics classes, educational clinics, motivational talks and excellence awards.
"IIB's active involvement in the programme is not only aimed at improving the academic performance of the pupils.
"It is also aimed at improving their social skills," he said. To enhance the pupils' command of English, Khairil said IIB has prepared 70 sets of exercise books through its cooperation with The Asia Foundation. "IIB hopes to nurture a pool of capable, dynamic and responsible pupils with good moral values and character.
"How successful this adoption programme will depend entirely on the cooperation between IIB, the pupils, teachers and parents," he added.
