Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) will sign with 15 more developers in Iskandar Malaysia to provide high speed broadband services (HSBB Unifi) connectivity to residential and commercial premises this year.
TM Johor general manager Mohd Roslan Mohd Rashidi said the company would also extend the coverage areas from three to another five new zones.
The five new zones were the Johor Baru Central, Pelangi, Pasir Gudang, Skudai and Tampoi areas while the existing areas were Nusajaya. Permas Jaya and Senai.
“Presently, there are 4,500 premises within Iskandar Malaysia which are connected with HSBB Unifi and we are looking to increase the figure to 45,000 by year end,’’ he said.
Mohd Roslan was speaking at the signing of service agreement between TM Johor and Seri Alam Properties Sdn Bhd, presented by acting head of subsidiary Frankie Tan Kiat How.
Seri Alam Properties is wholly-owned by United Malayan Land Bhd.
He said such collaborations would help extend HSBB Unifi usage to more Malaysians in line with the Government’s objective to achieve developed nation status by 2020.
The event was witnessed by Pulai MP Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed and UMLand group chief executive officer Pee Tong Lim.
Seri Alam Properties is the developer of the 1,537.80ha Bandar Seri Alam township in Pasir Gudang and properties under its Phase 2D5 will have access to the HSBB Unifi services.
Last year, TM Johor had signed similar agreements with Mudra Tropika Sdn Bhd for its Nong Chik Heights project in Jalan Kolam Ayer here and Dynasty View Sdn Bhd for its Taman Seri Austin housing scheme in Tebrau.
Tan said the availability of the HSBB Unifi services for the township would further enhance its status as the ‘City of Knowledge’ which was accorded Bandar Seri Alam last year.
