RM5mil for new building

Mudra Tropika Sdn Bhd is allocating RM5mil to build a new mosque at the Nong Chik Heights housing project to replace existing Jalan Kolam Ayer mosque.

Its director Mohd Nazim Sabtu said the new mosque located just metres away opposite the present mosque would have the capacity to accommodate a congregation of over 3,000.

“The new mosque will have a modern design and it will incorporate energy saving features such as using power generated from solar panels,’’ said Nazim.

He said this at the signing of an agreement between Mudra Tropika and Telekom Malaysia Bhd to offer high speed broadband (HSBB UniFi) to house buyers of Nong Chik Heights here.

The RM330mil project on a 14ha Malay reserve land is a joint venture project between the Johor government through State Secretary Inc (SSI), the landowner and the developer.

Nazim said initially, the company allocated RM3mil under the agreement with SSI to build the new mosque but decided to allocate an additional RM2mil.

“The new mosque will be the first environmental-friendly mosque in Johor and we also plan to have a water feature garden within the compound,’’ he said.

Nazim said fountains and flowing water would be the main feature of the mosque’s garden modelled after the gardens of Alhambra in Andalusia, Spain.

He said upon the completion of the new mosque, the existing mosque would be turned into a Balai Islam or a gallery including a multi-purpose hall with a seating capacity of 600.
