Property Developers Most Likely To Benefit From Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit

Property developers are most likely to benefit from the proposed joint development of a rapid transit link between Tanjung Puteri, Johor Bahru and Singapore, said OSK Research.

It said there was a high possibility that the proposed transit link could be also, or part of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's proposed third bridge.

"Major townships in the Pasir Gudang region and with proximity to Tanjung Puteri that will be immediately affected include Sierra Perdana by Mah Sing and Bandar Seri Alam (UM Land)," it said in research note Tuesday.

It said outside the Pasir Gudang enclave, the Tebrau Corridor, comprising the townships of Setia Indah by SP Setia, Desa Tebrau and Tebrau City (Plenitude), Seri Austin (UM Land), Austin Perdana (Mah Sing), was likely to reap the spill-over benefits.

"We do not see any clear-cut immediate direct benefits from this third bridge spilling over to UEM Land's Nuusajaya, which is located in the western region of Iskandar Malaysia," it said.

Najib and Singapore's Prime Minister yesterday announced the joint development of a rapid transit link which was expected to be operational by 2018.

A joint implementation team will further discuss the details, which are expected to be completed by year-end.
