The government will continue to implement all-inclusive development programmes for the benefit of the low-income group in line with the objectives of the New Economic Model, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.
Speaking at the meet-the-people session at Sri Stulang resettlement scheme here, he said, inclusiveness was important to ensure no one would be left out in the country's march towards progress.
"We will help in whatever ways we can. We don't want people in the low-income group to be left out, hence the various facilities provided by the government such as micro credits, scholarships, education loans and so on," he said.
He also called on the people to be appreciative of government programmes.
Citing the people's housing programme here as an instance, he said, the people should help maintain the area for their own comfort and not turning it into a modern-day squatter settlement.
"Facilities such as lifts should be in good condition at all times. I cannot imagine how difficult it would be for the residents, especially the elderly, to walk up the 10 storeys in the event of a lift breakdown," he said.
Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, in his speech, said 13,000 affordable housing units were being built for the residents of 28 villages in Iskandar Malaysia.
He said the projects were part of the measures to achieve the government's zero-squatter target.
