Mega project in Kulai to boost tourism and provide job opportunities

The development of the first Premium Outlet centre in Kulai will bring with it an increased number of visitors and provide thousands of job opportunities to locals, Kulai MP Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting said.

He said the development, which was the first of its kind in the region, would help in the growth of the state especially in Kulai.

“The outlet will feature an array of branded goods and is being developed by Genting Group and Chelsea Malaysia,” he said after launching the Juara Rakyat programme held in Kulai here recently.

“This mega project is linked to Genting’s integrated projects in Singapore and the construction process has already begun,” he said, adding that the outlet would be located in Kulaijaya.

Ong pointed out that the many people who visited the theme parks and resorts under Genting Bhd in Singapore would also be directed to the outlet in Kulai, which would increase the number of visitors to the state.

“The project is timely and the location chosen is very strategic as it is situated near the airport and the major highways in the state,” he said.

At a separate function, Ong said that equal attention should be paid to the different types of schools in the country.

“Education is very important and the development of schools including the Chinese and Tamil schools should be up to date,” he said.

He stressed that attention should also be given to the physical structure and amenities provided at both primary and secondary schools.

He highlighted that one of the biggest Tamil schools in the state, SRJK (T) Kulai Besar needed much attention as there were about 1,200 students who were struggling with inadequate classrooms and lack of basic facilities.

“We have already assessed the problem faced by this school and will be working on improving the condition there,” he said.

Ong added that several visits had already been made to the school.
