The Anjung police station in Nusajaya will enhance the security of the area, which is the hub of the Iskandar Malaysia project.

Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the station would ensure more patrols and a higher police presence in the area.

“At present, eight personnel have been assigned to the station. We are planning to increase the number soon,” he said after the station’s handing-over ceremony here recently.

DCP Mohd Mokhtar said the station, built by UEM Land Holdings Berhad, was testament to the co-operation between the police and the company.

“We thank the company for fulfilling its social responsibility. We hope it will inspire other companies to contribute to society in various ways such as co-operating with the police,” he said.

DCP Mohd Mokhtar also called for more co-operation between the public and the police.

“The best weapon to curb crime is good and continuous co-operation between the public and the police,” he said.

Meanwhile, UEM Land Holdings Berhad project director Zulkifli Tahmali said the setting up of the police station would enhance investor confidence and increase security here.

“The station was built in line with the Nusajaya Safety and Security Master Plan. UEM Land has built all its projects in safety and security and we are happy to work with the police,” he said.

The guests were treated to various performances including a T-baton demonstration, silat, Chinese drum performance and a sketch on crime prevention.

Among those who attended were Nusajaya assemblyman Datuk Aziz Sapian, Nusajaya OCPD Supt Abd Aziz Ahmad and Johor deputy CID chief Asst Comm Che Yussof Che Ngah.
