UEM Land Holdings Bhd, the master developer of Nusajaya, has handed over the newly built Anjung police station.
State police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the police station, which was located in an open-air shopping arcade, was planned under the Nusajaya Safety and Security Master Plan. The station is manned by eight police officers.
"It was a humble beginning for us as we started with limited patrols. Later, we stationed our personnel at the shopping arcade.
"After evaluating the situation we decided a police station was needed," said Mokhtar during the handover ceremony recently.
He also thanked UEM Land Holdings, on behalf of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan, for building the station.
The company's Nusajaya project director, Zulkifli Tahmali Yusof Tahmali, said the station complemented other security efforts in Nusajaya.
He said the precinct command and control centre at the Puteri harbour marina was launched last year to ensure operational efficiency and quick response in dealing with any eventuality.
Zulkifli said the East Ledang resort residential estate was equipped with the East Ledang Security Intelligence System, which was designed to respond to fire and health emergencies.
"All of these technologies are being implemented in an integrated manner in Nusajaya," he said.
Zulkifli also said that UEM Land Holdings' staff here had taken part in a safety seminar titled "Crime Prevention through Environmental Design".
