Developer plans for eco-friendly Nusajaya

UEM Land Bhd on Saturday launched its Nusajaya green master plan that will make the township environment-friendly.

The master developer for Nusajaya township said the master plan would identify environmental issues concerning development and would include educational elements for the community.

UEM Land managing director Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim said a RM230,000 grant was given to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to develop a green master plan for the township.

"The Nusajaya green master plan is our commitment to the environment of Nusajaya."

UEM Land is committed to managing its environment footprint to address the challenges of climate change.

"This will differentiate Nusajaya from other developments as we aim to build a reputation as an environment-responsible township."

Wan Abdullah and state International Trade, Industry, Energy, Water, Communication and Environment Committee chairman Tan Kok Hong launched the Nusajaya green master plan at the Marine Department hall.

He said integrated prevention and improvement was the philosophy behind the master plan, encapsulated in the ROSE concept.

"ROSE is the acronym for reduce, offset, substitute and enhance. This is the approach we will take to minimise our environmental footprint.

"We will reduce our demand for resources, offset our environmental footprint by augmenting environmental services, substitute processes or goods with more environment-friendly choices and enhance our environmental functions within Nusajaya."

He said UEM Land was also collaborating with UKM to implement the Sekolah Hijau programme here.
