NUSAJAYA will be linked to Johor Baru by a light rail transit (LRT) system in the next seven to 10 years.
UEM Land Holdings Bhd director Zulkifli Tahmali said the master plan for the project would be completed once the route was identified.
"The route of the LRT will be mapped along places of interest, where commuters can stop over. What is important is that the LRT, which will be the first in the state, will benefit the public," he added.
Zulkifli said this after launching the Guarantee of Quality, Workers' Safety, Health and Environment Week, organised by UEM Land Holdings.
It is the first developer to be given the responsibility of developing Nusajaya into a metropolitan city.
Nusajaya is one of the five main zones to be developed in Iskandar Malaysia.
"The LRT will provide convenience to the growing number of residents in Nusajaya, which stands at 75,000. It is expected to reach 100,000 in 2015."
