UEM Land Holdings Bhd., (UEM Land) melancarkan Pelan Hijau Nusajaya dalam usaha mengimbangi perubahan cuaca dan pemuliharaan alam sekitar bagi komuniti kawasan tersebut dan global.
Pengarah Urusan dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutifnya, Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim berkata, pelan induk itu turut merangkumi data dan informasi yang mampu membantu mengenal pasti isu-isu alam sekitar melibatkan Nusajaya.
Pihaknya percaya pengurusan alam sekitar terancang mampu menyumbang secara positif kepada usaha global dalam menangani perubahan cuaca dunia.
"Langkah itu akan membezakan Nusajaya daripada bandar raya lain dan menunjukkan usaha syarikat ke arah membina sebuah bandar raya serantau yang bertanggungjawab terhadap alam sekitar.
UEM Land Bhd on Saturday launched its Nusajaya green master plan that will make the township environment-friendly.
The master developer for Nusajaya township said the master plan would identify environmental issues concerning development and would include educational elements for the community.
UEM Land managing director Wan Abdullah Wan Ibrahim said a RM230,000 grant was given to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to develop a green master plan for the township.
"The Nusajaya green master plan is our commitment to the environment of Nusajaya."
UEM Land is committed to managing its environment footprint to address the challenges of climate change.
City folks can now look forward to a drive-thru for Maybank and Starbucks as well as KFC and Pizza Hut whenever they go to the Setia Tropika’s central business district (CDB).
These four outlets, which are located at the Setia City Connects of the CDB were opened by Johor Baru mayor Datuk Bandar Mohd Jaafar Awang yesterday.
Jaafar commended SP Setia for introducing an exciting new way of living for the city folks.
“With your strategic location and custom-built buildings like this where work and lifestyle merge, I hope it will spawn new developments and economic activities,” said Jaafar.
SP Setia Bhd is eyeing more land in the Johor Baru district for future development projects in view of the good long-term business prospect, said president and chief executive officer Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin.
To date, the company has 607ha left for development from four projects in Johor Baru, namely Bukit Indah and Setia Eco Gardens in the Nusajaya Corridor, Setia Indah in the Tebrau Growth Corridor and Setia Tropika in Kempas, according to Liew.
“The remaining land here will keep us busy for the next three to five years and we are looking to add 607ha for future projects,’’ he said yesterday.
Liew said Johor’s contribution to SP Setia’s earnings was significant and for the financial year ended Oct 31, RM500mil of its RM1.6bil turnover came from Johor.

Beliau berkata demikian selepas perasmian pembukaan premis empat dalam satu - Starbucks, Maybank, KFC dan Pizza Hut di Setia Tropika di sini hari ini.
The Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) takes only a month to approve applications for property development provided the applications are submitted with the relevant documents.
Johor Baru mayor Mohd Jaafar Awang said that some might have taken longer because the applications were incomplete and supporting documents were missing.
Other reasons included the developer’s failure to meet conditions and guidelines set by MBJB and the proposed projects not following building by-laws, he added.
“Our objective is to serve our clients better but this can be achieved only if they co-operate by submitting full and proper documents,” said Jaafar.
The property market here, like in other parts of the country, is regaining momentum after experiencing a slowdown almost a year ago following the global economic recession.
According to Dynasty View Sdn Bhd general manager Wong Kuen Kong, demand for residential property in Johor Baru has improved in the second half year and “with the signs of a global economic recovery, we can expect a better year ahead.”

JOHOR BARU: Property developers in Johor can look forward to better days ahead after almost a year of slow sales due to to the economic recession, as the sector is beginning to see early signs of recovery in the state, said Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) Johor branch chairman Lee Kim Chai.
“Our members reported slightly better sales in the second and the third quarters of the year and expect the momentum to continue until this last quarter,” he told StarBiz recently.
“Iskandar Malaysia, which is already in its third year, will be the main driving factor that will help push up demand for properties in south Johor,” he said.

JOHOR BAHARU, Oct 19 (Bernama)-- Nearly 80 yachts and sailboats from 16 countries are gathered at the RM65 million Marina at the Danga bay here for the "Discover Malaysia by Sea" programme.
The three-day programme, which starts from Oct 30 and is aimed at promoting Malaysia to the boating and sailing community, will see participation from as far Antigua and Vanuatu to Canada and the United Kingdom.
Australia is the biggest participant with 29 boats followed by the United Kingdom with 11.
