Konsep ‘wellness township’ kerjasama firma tempatan, asing.
NUSAJAYA: Kerajaan negeri bercadang membina sebuah pusat perubatan berkonsep ‘wellness township’ seluas 40 hektar di Teluk Danga, di sini yang akan dibangunkan dengan kerjasama syarikat tempatan dan sebuah syarikat dari Singapura.
Perancangan pembinaan pusat perubatan yang akan menawarkan perkhidmatan perubatan moden dan alternatif selain pusat kesedaran penyakit itu akan bermula penghujung tahun ini dan dijangka disiapkan dalam tempoh lima tahun lagi.
Menteri Besar, Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, berkata pihaknya berharap perancangan projek berkenaan akan dapat dimulakan sebelum penghujung tahun ini dan akan dibangunkan sebagai pusat perubatan lengkap.
Kerajaan negeri telah mengenal pasti kawasan seluas 202.34 hektar di Teluk Danga di sini bagi tujuan pembangunan perbandaran kesihatan.
Menteri Besar, Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman berkata, pusat berkenaan akan menyediakan perubatan moden dan alternatif serta khidmat kesihatan kepada rakyat tempatan termasuk warga Singapura.
Beliau berkata, projek pembangunan yang terletak berhadapan Selat Tebrau itu dijangka dibangunkan oleh Khazanah Nasional Berhad dan Temasek Holdings dari Singapura.
“Perancangan berhubung projek berkenaan akan dapat dimulakan sebelum penghujung tahun ini dan dijangka mengambil tempoh selama lima tahun,” katanya pada sidang akhbar selepas merasmikan pembukaan Hospital Columbia Asia-Nusajaya Afiat Healthpark di sini semalam.

The corridors are Iskandar Malaysia (IM), Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), East Coast Economic Region (ECER), Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) and Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
Iskandar Malaysia received RM60.18 billion, NCER (RM39.94 billion), ECER (RM28.32 billion), SDC (RM32.01 billion) and SCORE (RM87.61 billion), he said when replying to Matulidi Jusoh (BN-Dungun) during question time.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak berkata kerajaan akan memberikan insentif khas kepada 12 Bidang Ekonomi Utama Negara (NKEA) dalam Bajet 2011 bagi meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi negara, khususnya bagi menjayakan Model Baru Ekonomi (MBE).
Perdana Menteri berkata, insentif itu turut bertujuan memastikan 12 makmal NKEA yang ditubuhkan kerajaan dapat menilai dan mencadangkan output ekonomi berkualiti tinggi dalam projek permulaan (EPP) dan peluang perniagaan.
The Johor Government is planning to build a planetarium and a state science centre in Iskandar Malaysia.
Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the state aimed to encourage the growth of astronomy and science and the construction of both the facilities would help achieve this goal.
“A giant telescope is among the facilities planned for the planetarium.
“It will also have an exhibition hall as well as a viewing gallery,” he said in his speech, which was read out by Johor Local Government, Housing, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Zahri Jamil, during the launch of the Johor Science Week.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has developed a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera system which can produce clear and accurate images even in the dark.
The system, developed by the university's Photogrammetry and Laser Scanning Research Group headed by Prof Dr Zulkepli Majid of the Faculty of Geoinformation Science and Engineering, has the potential to be the best crime monitoring system.
Developed from the idea of Mohd Farid Mohd Ariff, 30, one of the 16 researchers in the group, it is an integration of modern imaging technology and geomatics, said Dr Zulkepli.
"The system involves three primary components -- gathering of data offline and online, space calibration and data processing," he told reporters at the university in Skudai.
South Korea-based industrial group STX Corp is investing RM1.5bil to set up a solar cells manufacturing plant at the Senai Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) in Johor.
Chief operating officer and deputy president Je Hyun Yoon said it would be the company’s second solar cells plant after its facility in Gumi-City, Gyeongbuk, South Korea.
STX Corp ventured into the solar business by setting up a division STX Solar in November 2007, and its 57,949 sq m solar cells manufacturing plant started operating last year.
The plant consisting of a research and development centre currently has 50MW capacity annually with plan to increase it to 300MW within the next three years.
