The state police have identified 30 errant entertainment outlet operators within Iskandar Malaysia and will be working with the city council to hasten the process of revoking their licences.
Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the business operators identified would usually disregard regulations in their licences or allow activities such as prostitution or drug trafficking to take place at their premises.
“I will be meeting with the Johor Baru mayor to discuss if the council can accelerate applications by the police to revoke licences of errant entertainment business owners.

Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) chief executive officer Ismail Ibrahim said the "1 Azam Programme" provides the foundation for hardcore poor to tap economic opportunities to increase their income.
"The poor will be briefed on the assistance and services offered by implementing agencies to change the mindset to make them more positive, confident and self reliant."
The "1 Azam Programme" proposed via the NKRA (National Key Result Areas) laboratory would focus on four main areas - business, agriculture, services and employment.

JOHOR BAHRU: Pihak Berkuasa Wilayah Pembangunan Iskandar (Irda) melencongkan pergerakan trafik sepanjang Jalan Skudai-Jalan Tun Razak bermula Sabtu lalu hingga Ogos 2011 bagi pelaksanaan kerja menyiapkan Lebuhraya Pesisir Pantai (LPP).
Irda mengumumkan Jalan Tun Abdul Razak berhampiran Maybank Taman Tasek, di sini ditutup dan dilencongkan ke laluan sementara.
Kenderaan dari Skudai yang menuju ke Jalan Tun Abdul Razak dan pusat bandar diminta menggunakan lorong kiri untuk ke jalan sementara yang disediakan manakala pengguna yang menghala ke Teluk Danga serta Pantai Lido diminta menggunakan lorong kanan.
The community should be actively aware of how local councils are spending their money and on what projects they are spending it on, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said.
He said members of the community should take a more proactive approach and provide ideas and input on future projects as it would benefit them more.
“The community needs to relay intelligent feedback especially to the local councils and have a say in the developments in their areas,” he said during the Program Gerak Kemas organised by the Pasir Gudang Municipal Council, Mawar zone.
He said members of the community should also take the opportunity provided by community programmes to relay their ideas and information to the authorities.
The Sikh community in Johor will soon have their own club house in Kulai for their cultural activities.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the facility would be similar to the community’s club in Kuala Lumpur known as Kelab Aman, which has been operating for the past 36 years.
“I propose to have this club on a 4ha site in Kulai. There are plans to make the town a centre of attraction by 2012,” he said in his speech during the MIC Johor Baru Vasakhi celebration held at the Foon Yew High school hall here.
He said Kulai, under the Iskandar Malaysia project, would be able to lure local and foreign visitors and this in turn would benefit the club.
“We are planning to build a premium shopping complex spread over 20ha in Kulai.
Residents in eight squatter settlements along the banks of Sungai Tebrau will be offered affordable flat units with better amenities under the squatter resettlement programme.
According to the Media and Communications Unit (Medkom) of the Johor Menteri Besar's Office, the programme costing RM303 million was among the biggest in Johor currently.
"(Menteri Besar) Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman is scheduled to hand over the House Ownership Eligibility Certificates to community leaders in the eight settlements concerned tomorrow in conjunction with his visit to the Johor Baharu parliamentary constituency," Medkom said in a statement on Wednesday.
Pedestrians and business owners, especially those operating stalls within the city centre, welcome the proposed mini Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complex (CIQ).
Registered nurse Broery Supiah, 55, believes that the proposed mini CIQ will bring life back to the city centre.
“I work in Singapore and commute daily using the new CIQ, but it is a hassle as we have to walk quite a distance in the new building,” he said.
Broery said that the mini CIQ would make it easier for pedestrians to travel in and out of the island republic as it would lessen the distance they had to walk.
Security personnel Alex David, 40, also views the mini CIQ as a good idea.
